Mir Zahoor urges youth to participate actively in sports activities | KNO

Minister of State for Forest, Environment, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and Cooperative, Mir Zahoor Ahmad held an interaction with J&K Tai Boxing  players here today.

The Minister, who is also Honorary President of J&K Tai Boxing  congratulated the players for bagging one each Gold and Bronze medals in Ist South Asian Championship which was held at Kanyakumari from 4th to 6th August 2017.

The Championship was organized by the Tai Boxing India Federation under the aegis of World Tai Boxing Federation.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister urged the youth to participate vigorously in the sports activities.

           Terming sports an important component in life, the Minister said that it inculcates discipline, self-confidence and team spirit among youth.

Congratulating the J&K players for winning medals, the Minister asked them to hone their skill and work with utmost dedication to enable them to participate in National and International levels.

The Minister said Government headed by the Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti is committed to provide every possible facility for upgrading and promoting of sports infrastructure in the State.  He said in this regard various measures are underway and focused attention is given to promote the physical education in the State.

Mir Zahoor thanked the Teachers of Government Degree College, Pampore for their full support to J&K Tai Boxing players.

The medalist players played Ist South Asian Tai Boxing Championship in Sub Junior, Junior and senior weight categories in which 400 players from six countries and host India participated.

Two players Mohammad Yonis Shah and Inayat Yousuf from J&K bagged Gold and Bronze medals from the Championship in 65 to 70 kgs and 60 t0 65 respectively.

Later, the Minister distributed participation certificates among the players.
